Many people believe that they should leave yoga class or practice feeling tired. That’s the “No Pain, No Gain” gym mentality – gotta sweat and get a good workout.  Yoga is not spiritual or physical gymnastics.

Professor T Krishnamacharya – considered the teacher of teachers having trained some of the most famous American yogis – said “there is a right Yoga for every person.” If you learn this Yoga it is so easily practiced.  Join professional yoga therapist, Karen Pierce, for a journey through these simple teachings.

Part of developing a personal practice is learning what your needs are for that day, that moment, that hour.  Yoga is meant to meet your needs day by day and moment by moment.  For example, if you’ve spent the day staring at the computer, your body may yearn for an energizing, active practice. If you’ve spent the day hiking, you may decide a soft, restorative practice is in order.  Listening to what the body needs – restorative and meditative or strong and invigorating.  Your practice should reflect what you are trying to bring into balance at the time.

You will learn the 5 principles of practice to make Yoga entirely your own, efficient, powerful and safe.   You will also learn the 7 sequences (or order of asanas) to incorporate into your practice creating complete balance.  No matter what style of yoga you practice, you will be able to add these principles to the Yoga you already know and love.  Weaving these tools of yoga into personal and powerful systems so you can do YOUR yoga.

The class ends with yoga nidra – known as deep yogic sleep – which is a meditation and relaxation practice that releases deeply held tensions.  This is a very powerful tool!

This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners who wish to adapt their yoga to the principles of authentic yoga that is efficient, powerful, and safe, while being clearly defined and easily applied for everybody and every body.      ______________________________________________________________________
